В статье приводятся результаты прагматического анализа кодовых переключений в англоязычных журналах “Elle”, где матричный язык – английский, гостевые языки – немецкий, французский, итальянский, испанский, латинский. Анализ осуществляется на основе специально разработанной для анализа письменной билингвальной речи классификации прагматических возможностей иноязычных единиц. Согласно проведенному исследованию, в англоязычном материале преобладают кодовые переключения, выполняющие предметно-тематическую и эмфатическую функции. Кроме того, кодовые переключения в англоязычных журналах могут совмещать несколько прагматических функций.
